Gil Pérez joins CHH as staff nurse

Gil Pérez has joined the staff at the Center for Healing & Hope as a staff nurse. He currently serves as an LPN at The Residence at Waterford Crossing and now also is one of two nurses on the CHH staff.

Gil completed training as an LPN at IvyTech Community College in 2014. Previous to this he worked in manufacturing first in Mexico and then in the U.S. He also has been a financial advocate at Goshen hospital.

At CHH, in addition to regular nursing work in the clinics, Gil will do health screenings and patient education, especially diabetic education for Spanish-speaking patients. “When I worked at the hospital as a financial advocate, I was able to make a difference in other peoples’ lives with gifts God has given me,” he said. “With nursing, I am able to make connections with people and be a part of meeting their needs, not only physical but also spiritual.”

Bryan Mierau, executive director of CHH, said, “I’m excited to have Gil join our CHH clinical team for several reasons: He strengthens our intercultural capacity by way of being raised in Mexico and having Spanish as a first language. He shares our commitment to providing health care in the context of Christian love. And he offers the additional benefit of being a male nurse—diversifying our staff team even more.”

Gil and Denise, his wife, have one son. They are members of People’s Bible Church in Benton, Ind.
