What is the Goshen Resident ID card (GRID card)?

The Goshen Resident Identification card verifies the identity and address of the person to whom it is issued.

The Goshen Resident ID card is not a valid form of identification for voting. It is not a driver’s license.

Who is the Goshen Resident ID card for?

The Goshen Resident ID card is for everyone who lives within the city limits of Goshen, Ind. The card will be of particular help to people who are unable to get a driver’s license or other form of official identification. This includes immigrants as well as elderly, formerly incarcerated and homeless people.

What does the Goshen Resident ID card do?

  • It provides verified identification for the person carrying the card when that person interacts with community officials, such as personnel from law enforcement, city services and schools.

How can someone get a Goshen Resident ID card?

To get a card, a person will need to provide several documents that confirm his or her identity and address. (See partial list at right.) Staff will review the documents for authenticity before issuing a card. No identifying information about applicants will be maintained after the card is issued.

What does it cost to get a Goshen Resident ID card?

The anticipated cost of the Goshen Resident ID card is $25. Discounts may be available when several members of a family apply at the same time.

Will the card be issued to undocumented immigrants?

Yes, the Goshen Resident ID card is for everyone who lives in Goshen and thus it will be issued to residents who are undocumented immigrants if they provide the required proof of identity and address.

LIST A

  • Passport
  • Driver’s license from any country
  • ID card from any country
  • Consular Identification card
  • Voter registration card, etc.

LIST B

  • Birth certificate
  • EBT card (Food stamps)
  • ITIN letter/Social Security card
  • Marriage or Divorce certificate
  • Income tax return forms, etc.

LIST C
These documents must be current or mailed within the last 30 days.

  • Bills for basic services (gas, power, water, telephone, etc.)
  • Letter with name and address from any social service agency
  • Letter with name and address from a religious organization
  • Letter with name and address from school or educational organization
  • Bank statements with your name and address
  • Car registration document
