Autismo Con Amor (Autism with Love)

Autismo Con Amor is an extension of The Natural Helpers Program. Autismo con Amor extends the Natural Helper services to Spanish speaking families by connecting them with a community volunteer who speaks their language and has the personal experience of parenting a child with autism. Autismo Con Amor is a group of parents helping parents. It connects parents of children with autism with other parents on both WhatsApp and in-person community support groups to share challenges, express frustrations, and ask questions.

“Autismo con Amor” is a local program designed to bridge the gap between residents living with autism and the resources available to them by offering monthly information sessions with qualified professionals from community agencies, training and empowering local Spanish speaking parents who understand the challenges of raising children with unique abilities, offering a place to belong and teaching new parenting skills.  The goal is to develop a network of person-to-person support services that will help Spanish speaking parents more effectively access existing community resources and work with community social service organizations.
