Free health screenings will be available from Center for Healing & Hope staff at the Goodwill location on Mishawaka Road in Elkhart on Saturday, April 1.

Between 10:30 am and 1:30 pm, anyone shopping at the Goodwill store can have a basic health check-up. This includes checks of blood pressure, cholesterol, body hydration and Body Mass Index. Anyone with two or more risk factors for diabetes may have a blood sugar test. Nurses who do the screenings will offer education and counsel if any health concerns are discovered. In addition, insurance navigators will be present to offer free help for people to check eligibility and enroll in health insurance.

These services are provided through a new partnership of Goodwill, the Center for Healing & Hope, Heart City Health Center, Beacon Hospital Community Outreach and United Way.

The first Saturday of the month is one of Goodwill’s half-price sale days, and CHH and the other organizations will be on site so shoppers can conveniently get health information and education.

CHH hopes to continue offering these health screenings on the first Saturday of the month for the near future.
