The Center for Healing & Hope is pleased to announce that Rose Shetler, MBA, BS, LPN, was recently appointed Interim Executive Director of the Center for Healing & Hope. Shetler will serve in this interim capacity until a search committee recommends a new executive director later this year. The previous executive director, Bryan Mierau, submitted his resignation in December after three years of service. The staff and board has thanked Mierau for his leadership in advancing the center’s mission of providing “medical advocacy services in a Christ-like manner to meet people’s needs in our community.”

Shetler has a strong background in a variety of health care settings as a Licensed Practical Nurse and has more than 11 years of experience in direct fundraising in a non-profit setting. She has a certificate in Women in Leadership from Cornell University (eCornell), an MBA from Bluffton University (Ohio), a Bachelor of Science from Goshen College, and a diploma in practical nursing from Scott Community College (Iowa). She is an active and engaged member of the local community as a board member at Maple City Market food cooperative and a board member of the Maple City Kiwanis Club.  Shetler co-founded and serves in the Goshen College Women’s Leadership Council, and on the Stewardship Team of Indiana Michigan Mennonite Conference. In the past, she has held volunteer roles including board member and chair at Goshen Interfaith Hospitality Network and as a volunteer nurse here at the Center for Healing & Hope.

“The board feels that Rose is a great fit for both the Center and for this particular role because of her background in medicine and fundraising, along with her strong connection to the mission of CHH, having served as a medical volunteer here in the past,” said Board Chair Amanda Schmidt, MD. “Rose will help continue the mission of the center while assessing our areas for growth and improvement.”

To support the mission of our clinic, staff, and volunteers in the midst of this transition, the board and staff invite you to hold them in your prayers, sign up to volunteer, attend upcoming fundraisers and events, or give a charitable contribution. They also strongly encourage you to sign up for a Goshen Resident ID (GRID) Card in order to support local immigrant community members. In addition to providing proof of identification as Goshen residents recognized by city offices, card holders have access to exclusive deals at participating local businesses.
