The Veva (Hershberger) and Leonard Garber Tribute Terrace

Center for Healing & Hope is home to the Veva (Hershberger) and Leonard Garber Tribute Terrace, located at the front entrance of our clinic at 400 W. Lincoln Ave. in Goshen.
Upon Veva’s passing in 2024 at the age of 102, we learned we were designated as a place friends and family could make tribute gifts to in her memory. Veva and Leonard’s daughter Linda, and Linda’s husband Ron Gunden, began to explore with us the possibility of installing a memorial area at the entrance of the clinic to honor Veva’s legacy, but also where all people who care for the mission of Center for Healing & Hope could show their support. From those conversations, and wider involvement from the family, we began to develop the Veva (Hershberger) and Leonard Garber Tribute Terrace.
A tree dedicated to the late Ned Kauffman also lives in the terrace. Ned was an avid urban tree enthusiast, long time CHH supporter with wife Ann, and father to Seth Kauffman, who is married to Ron and Linda’s daughter Angie.
A “Blessing of the Bricks” was held on October 9, 2025 – the one year anniversary of Veva’s passing. Leonard and several of his children, friends, and family attended alongside other community members who had bricks installed for the first time.
The terrace is a living tribute to our community, our mission, our faith, and our world.
